A brand new feature on Instagram will allow users to add multiple tracks from the Audio Library to their Reels, making it easier than ever to showcase your creativity. With the ability to include up to 20 tracks in a single Reel, you can line these up with elements like text, stickers, and clips while editing directly within the Instagram app.

This innovative feature opens up endless possibilities for content creation. Imagine capturing your NYC trip with a selection of iconic New York songs, mixing funny Original Audio snippets with music for a hilarious effect, or quickly changing the mood of a Reel with a dramatic ‘Before & After‘ transformation. If an instrumental intro of a song is gaining traction, you can use that section multiple times in your Reel. Additionally, you can create a teaser using snippets from various songs of an album or compile a greatest hits mix.
Creating a Reel with multiple tracks is simple and intuitive. First, record your Reel and tap the Music icon to select your first audio track. You can add your first track before recording, after uploading video from your camera, through the Reels editor, or from audio pages. Once you’ve selected the first track, tap “Edit video” and select “Add audio” to include a second track. If you want to add more tracks, tap the second track to unselect it (the yellow outline around it should disappear) and select “Add audio”. Repeat this process for each additional track. Use the editor tool to place, trim, overlap, and adjust the volume of your tracks. You can change or remove tracks before sharing your Reel by tapping “Edit video”, selecting the track, then either tapping “Replace” or “Discard”.

You can combine licensed music and original audio in your Reel’s audio mix. Reels with multiple tracks will display all tracks in the title of the audio. However, lyrics can only be added for one track; if you attempt to add lyrics for a second track, the lyrics previously selected will be removed.
If you find an audio mix you like in someone else’s Reel, you can use it in your own Reels. Watch their Reel and tap on the title of the track at the bottom to go to the mix’s audio page. Tap “Use audio mix” to create your own Reel with the same audio mix. Note that audio mixes cannot have additional tracks added to them.
For users with public accounts, anyone can use your audio mixes in their Reels on Instagram. However, keep in mind that audio mixes aren’t available on Facebook Reels, and a Reel on Instagram with audio mixes can’t be shared to Facebook.
This feature will be rolling out over the next few days, so ensure your app is up to date. We can’t wait to see the incredible Reels you’ll create with this new capability!
